According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, women play crucial roles across agrifood systems, but also face more precarious working conditions, heavier workloads, and unequal access to resources.
At our event, we heard stories from several women in New Mexico on the challenges and successes related to growing crops, teaching sustainable agricultural practies and performing other functions to feed their communities.
The event was organized and/or supported by the Interfaith Hunger Coalition, Surgite: A Sacred Dance Company, the Turkish Raindrop Foundation in Albuquerque, Indigenous Farm Hub, the Native American Community Academy (NACA), and Farm to Table-New Mexico/NM Food and Agriculture Policy Council.
(Our deep gratitude to Greg Morrison for recording the event and editing the video)
